Watercolor Floral Nursery | Floral Baby Bedding | Liz and Roo
Watercolor floral nursery design came on the scene over a 18 months ago, right around the time Project Nursery predicted “big florals” would be the trend of the year (and they were right!). All kinds of floral baby bedding blossomed that year and it is still running strong. Recently, we found a few fabric designers who had a style we loved, and we’ve been designing with these fabrics ever since.
A watercolor floral nursery is typically comprised of either the crib sheet, the crib rail cover, or the blanket (or some combination of those three) in a big watercolor print, used in conjunction with a simple linen or cotton crib skirt. We love the simplicity of the petal pink linen crib skirt combined with the solid white linen curtains in this photo by Liz and Roo.
Wallpaper Can Make a Statement
One trend we’ve seen is to wallpaper one wall in the matching pattern (to match the watercolor floral crib bedding), which can be really effective in a small room, a nook, a room with a dormer, or a bookshelf (wallpaper behind the shelves looks amazing).
What was once thought of as “grandma’s house” is now THE trend for this day and time.
It’s not just baby bedding that is seeing this watercolor floral nursery trend – it’s also in home design and clothing!
We love that watercolor florals (and floral crib bedding in general) usually has dozens of colors and shades of colors. That means matching wall paint and other accessories is easy and gives you lots of flexibility in choosing.
