4 Easy Steps to Creating Your Floral Nursery
Step By Step Guide
To Designing Your Floral Nursery
Just follow these easy steps and you’ll find the design process is not so overwhelming!
4 Easy Steps To Create Your Floral Nursery
We can’t think of anything prettier than a floral nursery for a baby girl. With so many options for floral nursery designs, you can head in many different directions. Here’s a simple step-by-step guide to create your floral nursery that should make decision-making a little easier.
Step 1: Select Your Crib Furniture
- Select your crib furniture first. The crib and nursery furniture will definitely guide both the wall colors for your floral nursery and your selection of crib bedding. You want to pick out your crib and furniture, including the glider, and make sure you get paint chips of the wood color so you can move on to step #2. At Liz and Roo, we love either a white (or cream) or gray crib in a floral nursery. There are many furniture companies that you can buy online that include free shipping. Natart Juvenile is one of our favorite crib furniture manufacturers, and you can see their selection of convertible cribs and dressers and more at Bambi Baby. Another line of furniture we LOVE is Westwood Designs, also at Tots to Teens. This is more moderately priced furniture. Before you bring baby home, be sure and have read our blog on Crib Safety.
Make a Realistic Checklist. Then Take Time to Enjoy The Process!
Step 2: Search for Fabric Ideas
- Once your crib and furniture are selected, the next step is to start searching for fabric ideas. Look at Pinterest for inspiration. Floral nursery design can range from simple solid linen crib bedding with floral wallpaper or floral art to floral fabrics with solid painted walls. Shop online (check out Liz and Roo Floral Crib Bedding for inspiration) or at your favorite local boutique. Be sure and ask for fabric samples to take home (or have shipped to you at home). It is always good to feel the fabric and see the colors in person because colors on a mobile phone can be deceiving, especially when it comes to pink. Curtains can add so much to your floral nursery design. Consider adding blackout liner to keep the room dark during naptime. Window treatments can take up to 6 weeks to make, so keep that in mind when planning your floral nursery design.
Step 3: Select Wall Colors
- In Step 3, you’ll need to select the wall paint or wall covering. Match to the color(s) of the fabrics you’ve chosen. It’s so much easier to match a paint color to a fabric swatch rather than the other way around. So, don’t paint your nursery before you find your bedding and curtain fabrics. Your floral nursery design can include accenting a wall in a different color, painting the inside/back of bookshelves a different color, or painting an angled wall a different color. Then, on to the fun part: accessorizing your floral themed nursery!
Step 4: Accessorize
- Next, once you have your crib in place, walls painted and wall décor up, and your floral crib bedding has arrived and is placed in the crib, the really fun part begins. When you have everything in place it is so much easier to bring something home to try out (think wall objects that fit the floral nursery theme). Liz and Roo makes lampshade covers in many linen fabrics that can be monogrammed, too and add a special personalized touch to the nursery. We also love Lorena Canals rugs and cushions and “pouffes”. These gorgeous additions are the final touch that makes the nursery perfect. Lorena Canals rugs are each hand made in India and can be…are you ready for this…MACHINE washed! They look like new just out of the washing machine 🙂
