Dream Nursery 2018: Lauren’s Baby Shower
Last Saturday we celebrated with our 2018 Dream Nursery Winner, Lauren, as over 50 friends and family threw her the most incredible baby shower. Her mom, Karen, said she got a lot of ideas from Pinterest, and the baby shower was definitely picture-worthy! Being Valentine’s Day week combined with the fact that Lauren and Craig are expecting a baby girl, the color theme was pink and red.
The dessert table was just about the cutest I’ve ever seen. Against a wood backdrop (did someone make this just for the shower?!) with baby Finley’s name (we loved the banner style), there were an array of homemade desserts that were beautiful. Strawberry cupcakes with cream cheese icing, dark chocolate dipped meringues, strawberry chocolate chip meringues, and pretzel logs dipped in dark chocolate were among the tempting desserts.
Lauren’s sister and her new baby (only three months old) were there to celebrate with her. Lauren opened gifts and one of my favorites was a quilt that her mother made using the same fabric that we are using in the dream nursery design. It’s a lavender damask pattern along with a lavender medallion pattern accented with gray fabrics. But, her talented mom took it one step further, designing and sewing the most beautiful quilt I have ever seen.
The detail (quilting) on the back side – all the small and big hearts – is truly a lifelong keepsake that baby Finley will love. Her mom found a quilt rack to display the quilt in the nursery.
Lauren was overjoyed with the beautiful gifts and we doubt baby Finley will lack for sleepers and dresses for the next year or so!
Someone surprised Lauren by making a tiny seat cushion for a baby’s rocker in the same fabric. We are dressing the dream nursery design this weekend and cannot wait to see it all come together.
On Saturday, we will be taking photos of Lauren’s dream nursery design, which we will post next week. Stay tuned for photos of baby Finley’s beautiful lavender and gray nursery.
