Dream Nursery #2: Lauren and Craig Edwards
Liz and Roo is thrilled to announce that our second Dream Nursery contest participants are Lauren and Craig Edwards of Taylorsville, Kentucky. After the first dream nursery contest, we were flooded with applications for the spring 2018 contest. With so many great entries, it was hard to choose. But, there was one entry that really moved us. And, for anyone who has struggled with loss, their story will touch your heart.
First, let’s step back to the beginning. Lauren and Craig were married in 2013 in a fairytale wedding on the beach surrounded by friends and family.
After becoming pregnant and then suffering a miscarriage, they were thrilled when the second pregnancy appeared to be in perfect order. The gender reveal at 20 weeks was a party at home. The couple revealed they were expecting a baby girl, announced via a blast of pink powder that was in a plastic baseball hit by Craig! They selected the name Sawyer, and started dreaming about decorating a baby girl nursery full of pinks and floral prints.
At 28 weeks pregnant, Lauren and Craig were told their baby had no heartbeat. On March 29th, 2017, Lauren gave birth to Sawyer Grey Edwards, later finding out that she had died from a blood clot. Being strong Christians, they found a way to channel their grief into a passion for any parent who has lost a child. Determined to help others and to keep Sawyer’s legacy alive, they formed “Sawyer’s Warriors” and joined the March of Dimes to raise money for research on premature birth and infant loss. Friends and family rallied together to raise money and all attended a walk for the March of Dimes. A golf outing is planned for this spring after the birth of their second baby girl, with proceeds going to the March of Dimes.
Lauren and Craig started a Facebook page, “Sawyer’s Warriors”, to further spread the word on infant loss and the many support groups that are there to help the “One in Four” who suffer the loss of a child.

I met Lauren and Craig before Christmas to talk about planning the dream nursery. They have a small bedroom that, with the help of Liz and Roo, will transform into a nursery. We are starting from scratch, with a bare room that Lauren and Craig plan on painting. 
Lauren and Craig chose lavender and gray as the colors for the dream nursery, and with that guidance, our work has begun!
We hope you’ll follow along with us and the Edwards family this winter and spring as we create the nursery design and unveil photos along the way. March is right around the corner.
