Elephant Nursery Design in 4 Easy Steps | Liz and Roo Design Consultation
Elephant Nursery Design Guide
Babies and toddlers love elephants. They sport big, long trunks and enormous, floppy ears that attract and delight little ones. If you’ve chosen an elephant nursery design, you may be wondering “where do I start”? Here’s our guide to creating a fun elephant nursery design in 4 easy steps.
Step 1: Select Your Crib Furniture
Select your crib furniture first. The crib and nursery furniture guide both the wall colors for your elephant nursery and your selection of crib bedding. You want to pick out your crib and furniture, including the glider and any other furniture pieces first. It’s a good idea to see if you can get paint chips of the wood color so you can move on to step #2. There are many furniture companies that you can buy online that include free shipping. Natart Juvenile is one of our favorite crib furniture manufacturers, and you can see their selection of convertible cribs and dressers and more at Bambi Baby.
The crib shown below with the tribal elephants bedding is called “Avalon” by Natart Juvenile.
Step 2: Search for Fabric Ideas
Once your crib and furniture are selected, the next step is to start looking at fabric ideas. Look at Pinterest for great ideas in both fabrics and accessories. There are so many fabric companies online where you can shop for ideas. Fabric.com is probably one of the biggest. Elephant nursery design can include elephant crib bedding, elephant accessories, elephant wall art, and more. Be sure and get fabric samples to take home (or have shipped to you at home) so you can use to match the wall colors. In addition, it is always good to feel the fabric and see the colors in person, because colors on a mobile phone can be deceiving. Curtains can add so much to your nursery. Consider adding a blackout liner to keep the room dark during naptime.
Step 3: Select Wall Colors
In Step 3, you’ll need to select the wall paint or wall covering. Match to the color(s) of the fabrics you’ve chosen. It’s way easier to match up a paint color to a fabric swatch rather than the other way around. So, don’t paint your nursery before you find your bedding and curtain fabrics! Your elephant nursery design can include accenting a wall in a different color or in bold stripes, painting the inside/back of bookshelves a different color, or painting an angled wall a different color. Then, on to the fun part: accessorizing your elephant themed nursery!
Step 4: Accessorize
Next, once you have your crib in place, walls painted and wall décor up, and your elephant crib bedding has arrived and is placed in the crib, the really fun part begins. When you have everything in place it is so much easier to bring something home to try out (think wall objects that fit the elephant nursery theme). Liz and Roo makes lampshade covers in many linen fabrics that can be monogrammed, too and add a special personalized touch to the elephant nursery design. We also love Lorena Canals rugs to finish the elephant nursery. They have some great gray rugs, polka dot rugs, and more. Check them out!
Accent with plush gray elephants, a rattan elephant hamper, jungle prints on the wall, and neat looking wood elephants to complete the nursery. Finally, don’t forget curtains (we offer blackout liner, too) that tie to the color scheme of the nursery. Here, we’ve paired our big gray cabana stripe with this gray tribal elephant nursery design, with a similar design to our gray elephant nursery design.
