One of the absolutely most exciting times in a parent’s life is the arrival of their very own teeny tiny newborn baby! Over the centuries moms-to-be (and sometimes dads) have been known to spend myriads of hours designing and creating a special space, a nursery that’s truly unique for their little one and styled in a personalized way.

Perhaps this resonates with you? Before you know it, your newborn will grow into a challenging tornado of pitter-pattering fun, otherwise known as a toddler. Blink and you’ll miss it, because in only a few short years that toddler will then mature into a ‘big boy’ or ‘big girl’ as they tend to ever-so-cutely label themselves.

Designing the nursery can be expensive and not something that most parents are likely to want to repeat in a hurry. However, stretching your dollar is truly possible by considering the longevity of the patterns and designs you choose when styling your baby’s nursery. It’s those cutesy little designs we refer to as “monkeys and trains” that will have you redecorating before you know it.

By selecting timeless patterns, décor, and colors that will also appeal to your child as he or she grows, you can inject longevity into your child’s bedroom. Toddlers are usually a little less demanding in their choice of bedding and accessories but come Preteen, they’ll usually have strict ideas of what will and won’t fly! Timeless designs are classic, and not at all gaudy or character driven. It’s also important to select bedding and accessories that you as parents won’t tire of over time. Choose subtle patterns that will see your toddler’s bedroom through to the preteen years and allow for some updating and change.

At Liz and Roo, we have a wide selection of luxurious designs, each hand stitched by our very own sewing artisans. Our nautical nursery bedding is a prime example of timeless bedding. The navy metro pattern in the crib set is a pattern we also make in a duvet (and our most popular adult set). Our gray elephant crib bedding is also great for a transition over years to come. Accessories like our monogrammed pillows will last over time. Have fun decorating your nursery. Plan ahead, start at least six months before baby is born, and have everything done and in place at least 30 days before your due date. You never know!
